Dr. Robyn Geers (She/Her)
Veterinarian & Owner
“I have always loved biology and medicine. Growing up, my dad was a family physician in a small town and I found that everything he did was really interesting, but I always knew I did not want to work on human bodies. My first ever dog Tanner (and every dog thereafter) was my best friend. I would play dolls with him and have long (one sided) conversations with him. Becoming a veterinarian felt like the perfect intersection of my passions. I feel lucky every day that I get to combine my passion for medicine with my passion for animals and I feel honoured when you put your trust in me to care for your family member. While working as an associate veterinarian I was inspired to build a practice and a team full of passionate people. I also saw major opportunities to improve patient care and client experience in the industry and I am excited to meet you and your pet.” Dr Robyn Geers attended the University of Queensland in Brisbane Australia where she obtained her DVM. She has also obtained a certificate of proficiency in abdominal ultrasound through We Are Veterinary Education in 2021. She volunteers her time and services in the veterinary field wherever she can and in her free time enjoys mountain adventures with her Golden Retriever Red.

Veronica Starko (She/Her)
Registered Veterinary Technologist
Veronica Starko has been passionate about animal care since childhood. Growing up surrounded by pets—from cats and dogs to birds and small critters—she developed a deep love for animals and knew she wanted a career dedicated to their well-being. Her journey began at age 12, helping in a veterinary clinic by cleaning kennels, wiping counters, and spending time with animal patients. This experience sparked a calling, and she pursued it through to her RVT certification at NAIT, setting the stage for a lifelong commitment to compassionate veterinary care. At Paws, Veronica is dedicated to providing a modern, collaborative approach that empowers pet owners and emphasizes the value of Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs) in delivering routine care. From wellness exams to behavioral and nutritional consultations, she believes that RVTs play an essential role in building lasting relationships with clients while allowing veterinarians to focus on cases requiring advanced expertise. This unique approach supports a more personalized, comfortable experience for pets and their families, reinforcing the sense of trust and continuity of care. Veronica’s commitment extends to alleviating the stress often associated with vet visits. She understands that pets pick up on their owners’ emotions, so creating a welcoming, calm environment for clients is a top priority. By fostering an atmosphere of comfort and trust, she aims to help both pets and their families feel at ease, transforming the veterinary visit into a more positive experience. With a dedication to compassionate care, Veronica believes in tailoring each visit to the unique needs of each pet and owner, recognizing that “gold standard” care is not one-size-fits-all. Pet owners return to Paws because of her team’s ability to deliver outstanding medical care in an environment that truly feels like a second home for their pets. Veronica treats every animal as if they were her own, and her passion shines through in every interaction.

Jessica Schwabenbauer (She/Her)
Registered Veterinary Technologist
Jessica Schwabenbauer’s love for animals took root early on. At five, during her first fishing trip with her dad, she was thrilled to catch her first fish—only to be heartbroken when her dad caught and kept it. From that moment, her respect for all living creatures deepened. Throughout her childhood, Jessica became the friend everyone relied on to care for their pets, a role that confirmed her lifelong dream of working with animals. Although she initially called it being a “vegetarian,” she quickly realized that a career as a veterinary technologist would allow her to combine her love of animals with her desire to make a meaningful impact. Jessica began her journey volunteering at a small animal clinic, eventually working as a tech assistant. Helping deliver puppies during a cesarean section was a life-changing experience, inspiring her to pursue her RVT certification. Today, Jessica is passionate about educating pet parents, ensuring they feel fully involved in their pet’s health journey. She believes that strong partnerships between pet owners and the veterinary team lead to happier, healthier animals. At Paws, Jessica is dedicated to fostering a calm and stress-free environment. She and her team take time to understand each pet’s comfort level, offering treats, gentle words, and a transparent approach that reassures both pets and their owners. To Jessica, veterinary care is about building trust and harmony with clients, empowering them to make informed decisions for their pets’ well-being. Her goal is for every pet to leave the clinic with a wagging tail or a loud purr, reflecting the compassionate, high-quality care she strives to provide every day. undefined
